Another possible idea for club direction...

I think starting a Hash House Harrier Club would be fun. There's already one in Cincinnati, but we can focus on hitting up bars in Fort Thomas and surrounding areas.

Starting Back Up
To anyone still following this blog. I'm sorry that the running club has been a bit inconsistent and absent over the past few months. I got married in September, so it has been a crazy few months. I do, however, wish to continue getting people out and running. With the winter months coming, I think we need to make some changes to our running schedule to try to beat the cold and dark as much as possible. Our old schedule was Tuesday evenings at 6:00 pm and Saturday mornings at 8:30. I am up for suggestions as to what times people would be most willing and able to go for a group run. Let me know in the comments if midweek mornings work best or if an evening run is still the easiest and what day/time on the weekend is best.
Thanks!
Chris
Thanks!

Back at it
I've not been very good about posting info on this site recently, but we're stilling running and walking through Fort Thomas. In fact, we have a run planned for tonight at 6:00 in the parking lot across from Highlands High School. You should come out and you should bring a friend and you both should run (or walk).

Happy Fourth of July
We had a good run on Tuesday. We had a couple new members that showed up after seeing the article in the Fort Thomas Recorder. The more people we can get to show up, the more fun it will be as there will be larger groups for each pace and distance. This weekend is the Firecracker 5k here in Fort Thomas, so we're not going to have our regularly scheduled Saturday morning run. Instead, I encourage everyone to participate in the 5k. Run it all, walk it all, or do a mix of the two. It's a fun run that the people of Fort Thomas try to come out and celebrate. Hope to see you tomorrow. Enjoy the weekend and be safe!

Tuesday Night Run
Run. Tonight. 6:00. PM. Be there.
It's a beautiful day in sunny Fort Thomas, KY. We'll be meeting in the usual spot across from Highlands High School. We'll have all sorts of joyous routes to choose from. If you're not there, I fully expect a doctor's note because there's no reason not to run on a night like tonight.

Cool Thoughts
This is not me giving inspirational or noteworthy thoughts. This is me thinking that I will somehow stay cool during tonight's run while there's supposed to be a heat index of close to 110 degrees. I don't know about you, but I sure miss the days when we had seasons other than burning ass hot summer and freezing ass cold winter. What were those other seasons called again? I know it's now technically summer and thus I shouldn't complain anymore about not having a spring. Tonight, I am running as a protest against the 97 degree heat with 110 degree heat index. If anyone should like to join in on this protest, please be in the parking lot across from Highlands High School at 6:00 pm (which Cash Cab tought me last night means "post meridiem") armed with running/walking shoes and thoughts of Antarctica and penguins.

Saturday Morning Run!
Come join us tomorrow morning at 8:30 am in the parking lot across from Highlands High School. Again, we'll have different routes planned out for all sorts of distances. Walkers, runners, fast, slow, in-shape, out-of-shape, everyone is encouraged to come. Remember, running = fun. Be there!

Race Training
The purpose of the Fort Thomas Running Club is to get people out running, whether they've been running their whole lives or just starting. There is no commitment to running certain races or doing certain things, it's just pure fun and exercise. However, as the club progresses, I am going to keep people up to date with different running opportunities that I have come across and/or am participating in or have participated in. This fall presents those sorts of opportunities. I know the thought of training for a half marathon or full marathon during the brutally hot/humid summer months in the Cincinnati area is enough to induce heat stroke. However, there are a lot of fun marathons that are within driving distance from the Cincy area. As of right now, I am planning on running the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on November 6, 2010. I will start a training program in the next week or two and would be more than willing to share my runs with anyone else interested in doing that marathon or any other marathon around the same time. Let me know if you're interested and I'll provide you with the training resources that I've found most helpful.
Tuesday Night Run
There's a run tonight at 6:00 from Highlands. We'll have distances planned out from anywhere from 1-10 miles. It's also been suggested to incorporate some runs that go through the trails at Tower Park, which sounds like a marvelous idea to me. Unfortunately, after the torrential downpour last night, I'm not sure that tonight will be the best night to be slopping around on the trails. But, that's something to keep in mind for the future. Come out tonight, bring a friend, or two or three and have some fun running with people you may or may not already know.

Running in the Rain
In case you were wondering, yes, we run in the rain. In case you haven't done it, running in the rain is actually fun, unless it's 33 degrees and raining. So come on out and join us. Barring some sort of natural disaster, I'll be running rain or shine.

Run Tonight!
Having our first group run tonight. Whether you can make it to the group run or not, go for a run tonight! It's a beautiful day today in NKY, which means an enjoyable run even for first-timers. Bring a friend. There's no commitment, no set distance or pace you need to be able to run. We just want to get the people of Fort Thomas running.

Tuesday's Run
Special thanks to Mark Collier and Darrin Murriner for posting a link to our blog on Fort Thomas Matters. Hope that will garner some attention to the running club. Best way to get people involved though is by word of mouth. Start spreading the word that on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings, the place to be is running or walking through the streets of Fort Thomas. We have trees, we have beautiful houses, we have safe (low speed limit) roads! I can't think of a better place to enjoy a run in the NKY area. The more people we have, the more fun it will be as people with similar paces and mileage can team up and enjoy their runs together.
